Sharjah Immigration opens extra counters for UAE amnesty applicants

Sharjah Immigration has opened extra counters for UAE amnesty applicants and already 2,000 individuals have visited the agency by now. The UAE had recently announced the 90 days amnesty program for illegal immigrant workers. Several women Police Officers have also been deployed at the women’s reception. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs has also allocated 4 extra halls. This is to cater to the huge rush of violators seeking benefit from the amnesty. It is through the initiative 'Protect Yourself By Modifying Your Status', as quoted by the Khaleej Times. Sharjah GDRFA Amnesty Centers and Establishment Director Colonel Ali Amin Mohammed said that the numbers are a positive sign. It reflects the eagerness of the unlawful immigrants to legalize their status of Residency, he added. We are amazed at the huge numbers of people arriving from the diverse emirates of the nation said the Director. Majority of them were unaware regarding the starting point for their process. This made us open 4 lounges for different applicants. These include Residence, Visa, Follow-up violators, and Ladies hall. There are totally 7 halls now, added Mohammed. The Sharjah Police Department of Special Tasks has collaborated with the Immigration Authorities in Sharjah. This is for management of crowds at immigration offices and centers for typing. Many women Police Officers have also been deployed at the women’s reception. Colonel Amin Head of the Sharjah Residency Department visited the diverse halls and service centers along with senior Officers. This is with the aim of expediting the process.
