Belgium business visa

The Business Visa of Belgium is aimed at people who want to conduct business activities in Belgium. Therefore, if you plan to attend a conference or meeting, promote sales, build a network, or the like, you would be required to have a Business Visa for Belgium.

Documents required for Belgium business visa

You need to submit the following documents to apply for the Business Schengen Visa for Belgium:

  • LOI or letter of invitation: An invitation letter should be issued from the company in Belgium that you plan to visit. The LOI should have the address and contact details of the company on its official letterhead. It should also mention the scheduled dates of your visit to the company.
  • Letter from the employer: You are required to submit a letter from your employer-based in Belgium explaining the purpose of your visit to Belgium. The letter should be issued on the company’s official letterhead. The letter should mention the approval of leaves by your company for your visit to Belgium.
  • Bank statements of the business organization: You need to submit the bank statements for the past 6 months of the company.
  • Article of Association and Memorandum: It is registered with the joint-stock companies. If it is available, you need to submit the attested original copy.
  • License for trade: You need to submit the trade license of the company. A photocopy of the original license and the renewed license.
  • Proof of funds for the trip: The trip to Belgium should be financed by the company you are employed in or the company you plan to visit in Belgium. The details of the company funding the trip and its details should be stated in the invitation letter.
Eligibility requirements

The conditions of the eligibility are:

  • You should be a citizen of the country from where you are applying.
  • You need to have a valid reason to visit Belgium for business, such as to attend conferences, expand your business, and the like.
  • You should have a passport with a minimum of 6 months validity from your scheduled travel date.
Processing time

It takes approximately 10-15 working days for the visa application to be processed for a standard application. It, however, depends on various other factors; it might take approximately 30 days. 

To avoid any delays, apply for the Visa 3 weeks prior to the scheduled date of departure but less than 3 months before the date of travel. The people who travel to Belgium for business activities make multiple visits to the country; if you intend to do this, your successive applications will be processed in a shorter time.

What are the visas for Belgium?

Type A

Type B

Valid for transit through 1 or more than one Schengen countries on your way from one non-Schengen country to another (also a non-Schengen country). For this visa, the transit must not last longer than 5 days.

Type C

Allows entry into Schengen Area for a maximum of 90 days’ stay in a 6-months’ period.

Type D

This is for a stay beyond 90 days. Valid only in Belgium but can be utilized for transiting through one or more countries in the Schengen Area.

Type D + C

Allows you to travel freely in the Schengen Area in the initial 3 months after entering Belgium, while awaiting your official residence permit.
