Study in Finland

If you wish to study in Finland, the country has a number of high-quality universities that deliver a wide range of degrees. You must apply for a Finland student permit if you wish to study here and are not a citizen of an EU or EEA country. If your course is shorter than 90 days, you can apply for a student permit which is a short-term temporary permit. You must apply for a residence permit if your course lasts longer than 90 days.

The residence permit allows you to stay in Finland for one year and you can renew it once the period is over.

Working while studying

International students with a residence permit are allowed to work in Finland as long as it is relevant to their course. During the program, a student can work 25 hours per week and full-time during summer breaks.

Visas for dependents

Students with a residence permit are permitted to bring their spouse and children to Finland for the duration of the course. They would have to independently apply for a permit to enter the country. Finland’s immigration authorities will make every effort to process your applications together. To obtain their permits, you must demonstrate that you have sufficient funds to support them during their stay in Finland.
