Why do immigrants from the UAE choose the UK?

The UK is the most preferred country for expats from UAE. The country is extremely multicultural and encourages expats to enjoy the freedom to celebrate their own cultures. The country is offering various immigration paths for foreign nationals, due to which the immigrants’ number was doubled from 5 million to 10 million.

Most of the Emirates choose UK immigration because of the following interesting reasons:

  • Superior quality of life
  • Better career prospects
  • World’s renowned education system
  • Innovation hub
  • Strong economy
  • Well-funded healthcare system
  • Strong immigrant community
  • Flourishing business opportunities
  • Fast evolving employment landscape

These factors have caused a sharp rise in UK immigration from UAE. While applying for UK immigration, both foreign nationals and Emirates are equally considered.

What to expect from migration to the UK from UAE?

The UK government has fiscal plans for 2022 and the near future. The announcements for visa changes encourage entrepreneurs and talented individuals for UK immigration. It also re-confirmed the introduction of new visa types in 2022.

The UK innovation strategy policy has announced two new visa routes.

The year 2022 will be shaping up for big chances for UK immigration. The country is planning new routes such as Global Business Mobility and Scale-up. This introduces new visa categories and amalgamation or amendment to some existing offerings. The new High Potential Individual visa will provide user-friendly access with a closer outlook.

Outlook of UK immigration rules 2022

  • High Potential Individual route: A visa for students who graduated from a top global university. With this, they are permitted to enter the UK without a job offer and work without restriction with the potential to settle in the UK if certain requirements are met.
  • Scale-up route: A visa for talented candidates with a job offer from a qualifying scale-up.
  • Simplifying the Innovator route:
    • Introduce a fast-track program for exciting businesses
    • Allowing more flexible options for funding and the ability for the applicant to work outside the primary business
  • Global Business Mobility: New Global Business Mobility route for overseas businesses
  • Global Talent Visa: It is for potential leaders who are pro in Academia or research, Arts & culture and Digital technology.

The UK government sets all these plans as it aims to make the UK a global innovation hub by 2035. Introducing this new fast-track visa for hiring overseas talent would be very important or vital for the increase of the economy and employment growth.

Apart from these, the country is also facing labor shortages in many areas, and hence it relies upon UK immigration for highly skilled foreign nationals.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the key changes in UK immigration after Brexit?
arrow-right-fill

The most striking change in UK immigration post-Brexit was the introduction of a points-based system. So now, your eligibility to apply for UK immigration will be based on some fixed criteria. The facility to trade certain requirements in the old system is no more available in UK immigration.

Here are some specific changes we would like to mention to you:

  • The Tier 2 (General) visa category got replaced by a new ‘Skilled Worker’ category.
  • The following benefits have been accrued from the introduction of the new “Skilled Worker” category, both to the foreign worker and the UK employer:
    • It’s easier to get a new Skilled Worker visa.
    • The residence labor market test has been scrapped.
    • Both the minimum salary and minimum skill levels have been lowered.

Designated low-skilled jobs won’t have a visa category anymore. All focus of visa issuance will be on skilled and highly qualified foreigners.

Can any national apply for the Global Talent visa?
arrow-right-fill

Yes. However, make sure that you satisfy the requirement that you are a leader/potential leader in the following fields:

  • Digital technology
  • Arts and culture
  • Academia or research

There must be documented proof for this claim and you must have attained 18 years of age.

What are the common mistakes to be avoided while applying for the UK work visa?
arrow-right-fill

When applying for a Tier 5 UK visa, you have to avoid these common mistakes:

  • You mustn’t choose the wrong start date for your UK visa. Every UK visa has an application window. For example, a Tier 5 visa can be applied for only 6 months in advance. In this period, you will have to surrender your passport for visa application processing and won’t be able to make any overseas trips.
  • It’s necessary that your passport has at least a 6-month validity at the time of entering the UK. If you apply for a UK visa and your passport turns out to not have the required validity, your visa application will be rejected.
  • Don’t apply for a new passport after you have started the visa application process or a UK visa has been granted to you on the existing passport.
  • If you have a travel plan don’t choose your visa start date such that it falls before the travel plan date.
  • Don’t use a UK address that isn’t the address where you are going to be living once you reach the UK. If you do so, it will affect the collection of your Biometric Residence Permit after arriving in the UK.
  • Don’t present proof of funds with a bank balance under the required amount, even by 1 pound.

Do not miss your Biometric appointment.

Students will be able to apply for permanent residence in the UK with the support of their post-study work experience.

What are the requirements to immigrate to the UK?
arrow-right-fill

The UK has a points-based immigration system. Anyone except Irish citizens coming to the UK to work in the country has to meet certain requirements. To meet these requirements they will score points. Candidates who gain sufficient points are chosen and awarded visas.

The advantage of this system is that it provides flexible arrangements for employers in the UK to recruit skilled foreign workers from around the world via many different immigration routes.

The employer/sponsor who sponsors you will need a license to hire the most eligible employees from beyond the UK. So, they have to check that the jobs they want to hire individuals for will satisfy the requirements for sponsoring work visas.

The most common way to immigrate to the UK is to obtain a Skilled Worker Visa. To qualify for a skilled worker visa, you have to score 70 points. A job offer from an approved UK employer for a skilled job along with your ability to speak English will fetch 50 points.

Extra points can be gained for having better qualifications like

  • D. – 10 points
  • D. in STEM – 20 points
  • An offer of an in-demand job in which the UK has a shortage – 20 points

Under the Skilled Worker route, any person a UK employer wants to hire from outside the UK will have to show that:

  • the candidate has a job offer from a sponsor licensed by the Home Office
  • the job offer has the required level of skills – RQF 3 or above
  • the candidate can speak English to the standard required

Additionally, it’s necessary that the job offered meets the applicable minimum threshold for salary. This is the higher of either:

  • the general threshold of salary – £25,600, or
  • the specific requirement of salary for the offered occupation (called the ‘going rate’)

Here’s how points are assigned under the Skilled Worker route:
