Revised Quebec ATL favors select Overseas Degrees for Canadian immigration

The revised Quebec ATL now favors specific Overseas Degrees for Canadian immigration. These include Early Childhood Education, Information Management, Actuarial Science and seven others. They are amongst the most valued Overseas Degrees obtaining 12 points maximum in the updated Areas of Training List. ATL offers the number of points offered for specific Overseas and Quebec Universities. Secondary-level vocational and college degrees are also included. It is for the most popular immigration pathway of Quebec – QSWP: Quebec Skilled Worker Program. Ten factors are considered under the point’s grid of the QSWP and ATL is one among them. The revised ATL is amongst the several crucial changes to the immigration system of the Quebec. These have become effective from 2 August 2018, as quoted by the CIC News. A new system of EOI in the QWSP will rank eligible candidates based on diverse factors. These now include US Work Experience as well. This is an innovative addition to the immigration system. Quebec is the only province in Canada to offer points specifically for work experience in the US. Candidates in the EOI pool will be categorized into 2 groups. The first is the set of qualified candidates who are residing in Quebec, or a have a job offer in the province or meet specific criteria. The other is the set of candidates who are residing outside Quebec. The scores of candidates in both the groups will be based on several factors. These include Education, age, English or French proficiency and work experience in the US or Canada. Area of Training is listed by Quebec as one of the factors for ranking candidates who apply from outside the province.
