On June 3, 2020, Ontario conducted a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw. It invited Express Entry candidates who have a minimum of 1 year’s work experience in any of the 9 jobs listed. These eligible candidates were invited to apply for a provincial nomination from Ontario.

These jobs were:

  • Nutritionists and Dieticians (NOC 3132)
  • Registered psychiatric nurses and Registered nurses (NOC 3012)
  • Professional jobs in business management consulting (NOC 1122)
  • Accountants and Financial auditors (NOC 1111)
  • Advertising, marketing, and public relations managers (0124)
  • Financial managers (NOC 0111)
  • Other primary health practitioners (NOC 3124)
  • Other financial officers (NOC 1114)
  • Other administrative services managers (0114)

This Ontario PNP (Ontario Provincial Nominee Program) draw selected candidates, in all probability eligible for the Express Entry HCP (Human Capital Priorities Stream) to be invited.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score asked of the candidates was between 358 and 439.

167 invitations were given to candidates with work experience in Canada.

532 invitations were sent to international candidates who required a CRS score between 471 and 500.

The candidates invited had their profiles in the federal Express Entry system. The Express Entry system manages applications for 3 federal immigration programs namely:

The CRS scores are assigned to the profiles on the basis of factors like:

  • Work experience
  • Education
  • Age
  • Language skills in English and French

A nomination from PNP effectively guarantees that a candidate will get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian Permanent Residence (PR) in an upcoming Canada Express Entry draw.

Ontario has a maximum allocation to invite 7,600 principal applicants. In this, 250 nominations are for temporary workers. They may be from the NOC (National Occupation Classification) skill level C or intermediate skilled jobs.

In 2019 more than half of Ontario’s 7,391 provincial nominees were Express Entry candidates.
