Manitoba conducted an immigration draw on January 14, 2021, that invited 272 new immigration candidates to file an application for a provincial nomination. The Manitoba PNP invited candidates under International Graduates and Skilled Workers to apply to any of the following streams of Canada immigration namely:

  • International Education Stream
  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba
  • Skilled Workers Overseas

The number of invitations (LAAs) sent to candidates in these streams and the least EOI scores expected of them are as follows:

Stream No. of LAAs Minimum EOI score
International Education Stream 29 -
Skilled Workers in Manitoba 236 461
Skilled Workers Overseas 7 722

Of the 272 LAAs sent to immigration candidates, 18 went to Express Entry candidates. Candidates without a valid EE ID, a validation code for jobseekers, and proof of experience in a job in one of Manitoba’s in-demand occupations will be rejected from the selection.

The MPNP considered only Skilled Worker Overseas candidates in this draw in case they were issued invitations directly under a strategic recruitment initiative.

In case a candidate scored higher than the minimum score stipulated for selection and yet didn’t receive an LAA, the reason could be any of the following:

  • He/she received an invitation under a strategic recruitment initiative but failed to send an invitation number that’s valid
  • The validity of his/her language test has expired
  • His/her third-party language test didn't have a test number that’s valid

Such a candidate can update the EOI profile with the correct information so that he/she can participate in the next draw and get considered for selection.

Manitoba announced the creation of a new department of advanced education, skills & immigration on January 5, 2021. This was as part of the province’s recovery plan for the post-COVID-19 period. It’s aimed at getting people to return to work and make sure that new job opportunities for new immigrants and young Manitobans are available.

Manitoba’s advanced educational institutions will align with the requirements of the labor market. For this, immigrants and Manitobans will be trained in the skills required to achieve success.
