It’s now allowed to travel to Canada for fully vaccinated tourists

Tourists, who have completed the full course of their COVID-19 vaccination can now travel to Canada. The visitors must have taken a vaccine approved by Canada. These include:

  • Moderna
  • Pfizer BioNTech
  • AstraZeneca/Covishield
  • Janssen

A complete course of vaccination means 1 dose of the Janssen vaccine and 2 doses of other vaccines aforementioned. Those who travel to Canada must have received their last dose of the vaccine not less than 14 days prior to their journey to Canada.

Checklist to travel to Canada

  • Travelers must use the ArriveCAN web or mobile application that gives their personal and travel information including vaccination status.
  • Travelers will have to show a pre-arrival molecular test result for COVID-19. This is necessary even if they are fully vaccinated.
  • Travelers may also be subject to random COVID-19 testing.
  • Travelers will be expected to have a quarantine plan though they will be exempt from quarantine subject to meeting specific requirements. If the border officer isn’t convinced with the traveler’s meeting requirements, they could have to follow the quarantine procedure.
  • If the parent/guardian of unvaccinated travelers aged below 12 years are fully vaccinated and are accompanying them, those travelers won’t have to get quarantined.
  • Except for those traveling for essential reasons and individuals like diplomats, international students, and temporary workers, no foreign national will be allowed to enter Canada unvaccinated. The essential people coming in unvaccinated will have to quarantine themselves for 14 days upon the arrival.
  • International flights are allowed only to the following airports in Canada:
    • Toronto Pearson International Airport
    • Vancouver International Airport
    • Halifax Stanfield International Airport
    • Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport
    • Edmonton International Airport
    • Montreal-Trudeau International Airport
    • Calgary International Airport
    • Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport
    • Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport
