Few jobs in more demand during COVID-19 benefits Manitoba immigration

Growth in the demand for certain occupations has been registered in Manitoba during the COVID-19 pandemic. These jobs include:

NOC 5241 – Graphic Designers & Illustrators

There was an increase of 114% in the employment of Graphic Designers & Illustrators in April 2020, in comparison to April 2019.

NOC 2281 – Computer Network Technicians

There was an increase of 75% in the employment of Computer Network Technicians in April 2020, in comparison to April 2019.

NOC 6231 – Insurance Agents & Brokers

The increase in demand for this area of employment is expected for the coming days. The reason is that there could be increased insurance claims due to the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 for business and travel.

NOC 4412 - Home support workers, housekeepers & related occupations

There was an increase of 87% in these occupations in April 2020, in comparison to April 2019.

NOC 1521 - Shippers & receivers

There was an increase of 27% in the employment of shippers and receivers in April 2020, in comparison to April 2019.

NOC 7452 – Material handlers

The average levels of employment for this occupation registered an improving year-over-year trend in 2020.

NOC 7514 - Delivery & courier service drivers

The average levels of employment for this occupation registered an improving year-over-year trend in 2020.

NOC 6622 - Store shelf stockers, clerks & order fillers

The average levels of employment for this occupation registered an improving year-over-year trend in 2020.

Manitoba immigration if you work in these occupations

The following pathways are available to you to move to Manitoba if you are a skilled worker in any of the above occupations:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • Canadian Experience Class

The applications you submit will be managed by the Express Entry system. One thing to note is that your occupation is considered skilled under the Express Entry system if your skills are of type 0, A, or B.

By that standard, only the following occupations among the ones mentioned above are considered skilled:

  • Graphic designers & illustrators
  • Computer network technicians
  • Cleaning supervisors
  • Insurance agents & brokers

You could also arrive in Manitoba via Manitoba PNP through its Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream. The Manitoba Work Experience pathway under this stream can be used to work in Manitoba.

With an Express Entry profile, you can do Manitoba immigration via the Manitoba Express Entry pathway. This pathway comes under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream.
