Top 5 ways to contact the IRCC for visa Impediments

The candidates can always contact the IRCC in case of visa delays and postponements.

The top 5 official pathways that can be taken to contact the IRCC are as follows:

Web forms

The IRCC offers Web forms to gather information about any inconveniences the applicants have. The average response time from the IRCC via web forms takes 30 days and may vary based on the issue's complexity.

The IRCC may not respond to web form requests if the application is within the standard processing timeline.

The online form or web form is preferably for:

  • Individuals who wish to enquire about a submitted application that has exceeded the standard processing time
  • Individuals who want to update their details in the application form.

Some of the other ways to use the web form for support are:

  • Report any technical glitches with the online services offered by the IRCC
  • Request for a replacement of the PR
  • Request for faster processing
  • Change representative details (change/update/add) in the application, provided you have the supporting documents)

Note: It takes up to 5 working days for the IRCC to update your details via the information given in the web form.

Phone Calls

The phone call medium is restricted to applicants who are within Canada and does not apply to outsiders. The department maintains an automated, human–backed phone line to address the issues.

  • The human-operated support centre would be available from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday, in English and French languages.
  • The automated support would be available 24 hours a day and throughout the week. Candidates can check their application status or learn more about the programs offered by the IRCC.

Note: The support holds no authority and cannot make any decisions for your application.

GCMS

The Global Case Management System (GCMS) notes are a document that gives you detailed information about the concerns and doubts that the IRCC officials raise, with a chance to address them with proof personally.

Email

Email is yet another pathway to contact the IRCC, particularly for individuals with technical or general doubts. It takes around 2-5 working days for the IRCC to respond to the email, but it may give limited answers based on your questions.

You can reach out to the IRCC via:

  • questions@cic.gc.ca for General queries
  • web-tech-support@cic.gc.ca for Technical questions.

Note: Beware of scammers, as email is one of the easiest ways to dupe the applicants' personal information.

Order of Mandamus

The Order of Mandamus is the last option if the issue is unresolved. Applying for the order of Mandamus includes a decision from the Federal Court, which further pushes the IRCC for a faster resolution. An immigration lawyer can offer better assistance in this matter.

Note: Eight specific conditions need to be fulfilled to warrant the order of Mandamus.
