Canada introduces 2 new PR routes for Caregivers to help them to arrive and settle in the country. The Caring for Children and Caring for People with High Medical Needs pilot programs have expired. They have been replaced by the Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker pilot programs. Applications for the new pilot programs are being accepted from 18th June 2019. A job offer from Canada is now mandatory for Caregivers to apply for a Work Visa. Caregivers also need to meet the requirements of the economic immigration programs in Canada. The new pilot programs will help Caregivers gain 2 years of Canadian work experience which will qualify them for a Permanent Residence Visa. The new pilot programs have the below benefits for Caregivers:
  1. Canada Work Visas which are occupation-specific are not employer-specific. This enables Visa holders to change employers if required.
  2. Family members of Caregivers will be eligible for Open Work Permits or Student Visas
  3. The new pilots will help Caregivers to transition from temporary to permanent status. They will be eligible to apply for the PR visa once they fulfil the work experience requirement.
  4. A Labour Market Impact Assessment will not be necessary to hire an overseas Caregiver.
Both the new pilot programs will provide a pathway for Caregivers and their families to transition to Permanent Residence. Canada is dedicated to better the lives of its immigrants and support employment for its middle class. For the pilot programs that have expired, Canada has stopped accepting fresh applications with effect from 18th June 2019. However, Caregivers who have submitted their applications prior to this date will continue to have their applications processed to a final decision. Caregivers who have not yet submitted their applications will now need to do so through the new pilot programs. IRCC has announced that it will reopen its Interim Pathway for Caregivers on 8th July. This program will remain open for 3 months, as per CIC News. The annual quota for Principal Applicants under both the pilot programs is 2,750. Along with the family members of the Caregivers, Canada will admit 5,500 newcomers every year.   If you are looking to Study, Work, Visit, Invest or Migrate to Canada, talk to Y-Axis, the World’s No.1 Immigration & Visa Company.
