The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) conducted the latest draw on 5th July. 180 Express Entry candidates were invited in this draw with the lowest-ranked candidate scoring 425.
The Alberta Express Entry Stream nominates eligible applicants from the Express Entry Pool. Invited candidates can then apply for a provincial nomination which earns them an extra 600 on their CRS score.
To apply under the Alberta Express Entry stream, you do not need an offer of employment. It is also not mandatory to have previous work experience in Alberta.
However, it is important that a candidate can demonstrate “strong ties” with the province. It is also mandatory for eligible candidates to have relevant work experience in a high-demand occupation in the province. However, Alberta has not released any such list of high-demand occupations.
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program gives importance to candidates who:
- Have previous work experience or a job offer from Alberta
- Have completed a post-secondary degree from an educational institution in Canada and also have a job offer
- Have a parent, child or sibling who is an Alberta resident
17 invitation rounds have been conducted by the AINP in 2019. It has issued 3,996 invitations so far this year.
The minimum cut-off of 425 was the highest so far for an Alberta Express Entry invitation round. However, the cut-off is still much lower than the current Federal Express Entry cut-off, as quoted by CIC News.
4 Alberta Express Entry invitation rounds have been conducted where cut-off has been as low as 300. 3 invitation rounds had a cut-off of 301 points while 1 had a cut-off of 302 points.
