Working in NT can now get you an Australian PR

Overseas workers who are willing to live and work in Northern Territory for 3 years can now get Australian PR. Low-skilled migrants in NT now have access to PR under a special visa scheme. Northern Territory has opened up the pathway to PR for 117 occupations. Many of these occupations have lower requirements for English and other skill levels. On 1st January 2019, a special visa scheme called the Designated Area Migration Agreement has come into effect in NT. This is the second DAMA signed by NT. However, the first DAMA did not offer a pathway to PR. Immigration Minister David Coleman said that NT’s second DAMA is an example of how the Govt. can use the migration program to cater to specific needs of regional areas. NT has been able to use the DAMA to fill up its labour shortage. The Federal Govt. hopes to partner with the NT Govt. to support the skills need of employers in NT, as per SBS News. Employers in NT will now have access to 117 occupations to fill in job positions otherwise not available locally. Here is Occupation List of Northern Territory under the second DAMA:
