US to raise B1/B2 and student visa fees, effective from May 30, 2023

Highlights: Hike in B1/B2 & US student visas

• The US Department of State has announced to increase the fees for the B1/B2 and student visas.
• The new changes will be effective from May 30, 2023.
• The fees for non-petition-based NIVs and visitor visas are set to increase from $160 to $185.
• The fees for non-immigrant temporary workers will rise from $190 to $205.
• The visa payments and interviews conducted before October 1, 2022, are valid for 365 days from the issue date.

US student visas and B1/B2 visa to increase in 2023.

• The US Department of State (USDS) has released changes in the B1/B2 and student visa fees.
• The visa interviews and payments made on or after October 1, 2022, will have a validity of 365 days from the date of issuance of the fee payment.
• The visa interviews and payments made before October 1, 2022, will have a validity of until September 30, 2023.

Given below are the hike for student visas and B1/B2 visas –

• The fee for exchange visitor visa and student visa will see an increase from $160 to $185.
• The fee for non-immigrant visas that are petition-based will see an increase from$190 to $205.
• The fee for investors, treaty traders, and applicants that are a part of the specialty occupation (E Category) will see an increase from $205 to $315.
