On May 6, 2021, Saskatchewan held a provincial immigration draw that invited 259 immigration candidates. They were invited to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada PR.

Eligible candidates invited by SINP came from the International Skilled Worker category. The following was how invites were issued among the sub-categories involved:

  • Express Entry – 136 invites
  • Occupations In-demand – 123 invites

The invited candidates had to have a minimum EOI score of 70. Also needed was ECA to show that they have qualifications that had parallels with Canadian standards. Besides this, the candidate had to have work experience in one of the 63 jobs listed in the government’s in-demand occupations.

About the Occupations In-demand sub-category

It’s a base PNP, which means it’s open to immigration candidates who don’t have an Express Entry profile. This sub-category is meant for high-skilled foreign workers who already have work experience in an occupation listed as an in-demand one in Saskatchewan. They also don’t have a job offer in the province.

To apply for Canada immigration via this sub-category, foreign nationals must create their EOI profiles via the online system provided by SINP. The EOI system of Saskatchewan lets the province select immigration candidates with skills and ability to live, work and prosper in the province.

Based on various factors like education, work experience, age, language skills, and connections in the province, the candidates are assigned scores out of 100. This scoring is applied over the Points Assessment Grid of the SINP for International Skilled Worker category.

About the sub-category of Express Entry

This is a PNP considered as an enhanced one. This means that it’s connected to the Express Entry system at the federal level.

The Express Entry system is what Canada uses to manage applications to its 3 main economic-class immigration programs. These are FSTP, FSWP, and CEC.

Candidates who create a profile in the Express Entry system are ranked by CRS. The ranking is based on many human capital factors. They include age, education, work experience, and language proficiency in English/French.

As Express Entry candidates who have EOI profiles apply for a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan, they will be awarded 600 extra CRS points. This score will help them to earn a distinct advantage of a higher opportunity to get Canada PR through a federal express entry draw by virtue of the enhanced CRS score.
