On May 25, 2021, Saskatchewan sent invitations to 269 candidates seeking Canada immigration. They were invited to submit applications for a provincial nomination leading to Canada PR.

The candidates invited could possibly be fit for a nomination that SINP grants. This will specifically be from the category of International Skilled Worker. For this round of invitations, the province aimed for candidates belonging to the Occupations In-Demand sub-category.

Invited candidates required to have a minimum EOI score of 65 to be eligible to be invited. This score is 5 points lesser than what was required in the previous round of selection. The candidates also required ECA to show that their foreign education matched the Canadian standard. They had also required work experience in one of the 36 in-demand occupations included in the list issued by the government.

Saskatchewan uses an EOI system to manage the candidate pool. They are meant for 2 of its sub-categories namely Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand.

The EOI is a process that precedes the actual application. It allows immigration candidates to fill a form showing their interest in applying for the status of permanent resident Canada offers by moving into the province.

About the Occupations In-Demand subcategory

The Saskatchewan Occupation In Demand sub-category is a base PNP. Hence, it’s open to immigration candidates without an Express Entry profile.

This sub-category is meant for workers who are highly skilled and possessing experience in an occupation in Saskatchewan considered in-demand. These workers don’t have a job offer yet in Saskatchewan.

If you want to apply for a Canada PR visa via this sub-category, must create an EOI profile through the online application system of the SINP.

The EOI system of Saskatchewan permits the province to select immigration candidates with the ability to live and prosper in the famed prairie province. Assessment of the candidates will be done on the basis of their education, work experience, age, language skills, and connections to Saskatchewan. This will reveal their ability to settle in Saskatchewan.

The candidates who join the EOI system are given a score out of 100. The score will be based on the Points Assessment Grid of SINP’s International Skilled Worker stream. The candidates who score the highest are then sent an ITA for a provincial nomination for Canada PR.

About the Express Entry sub-category

The Express Entry sub-category is an enhanced PNP. It’s hence linked to the federal Express Entry system.

Express Entry is tasked with the management of the candidate pool for 3 of Canada’s main economic-class immigration programs namely FSTP, FSWP, and CEC.

Candidates who have created an Express Entry profile must also create EOI profiles for Saskatchewan. Only then will they be considered for an ITA for a provincial nomination.

Express Entry candidates who get a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan are given an extra 600 CRS points at the federal level. In effect, this guarantees that an ITA for Canada PR will be available to the candidates in a future federal immigration draw.
