Keeping Canada immigration going, Manitoba conducted its provincial nomination draw on April 23, 2020. In the event, 132 candidates were invited to apply for provincial nomination. Their provincial nomination will come with Permanent Residence. The candidates were all selected from Manitoba’s Expression of Interest (EOI) pool. It included 7 Express Entry candidates too.

The draw on April 23 issued invitations to candidates in the streams of

  • Skilled Workers Overseas
  • Manitoba’s Skilled Workers in Manitoba
  • International Education

In these categories, 1,808 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) has been sent to immigration candidates as yet in 2020. The Manitoba draw started in April 2014. The latest draw was the 88th one since then.

Express Entry stream

Express Entry is the most identified stream in immigration Canada. The candidates who come from this stream are given ranks according to a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The score is given based on criteria like education, age, work experience, and language skills.

Candidates who score the highest will get invitations for permanent residence in Canada. With a provincial nomination, a candidate will add 600 points to his/her original CRS score. That will give an effective guarantee to get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Express Entry candidates who got a provincial nomination from Manitoba via this draw had a valid Express Entry ID and a job seeker validation code.

Skilled workers in Manitoba stream

The Skilled Workers in the Manitoba stream provides a way to Permanent Residence for temporary foreign workers in the province. It's applicable also to international graduates of Manitoba post-secondary institutions.

The eligible candidates need to be working in Manitoba. They must have a permanent job, employed full-time as appointed by an employer in the province.

The lowest-ranked selected candidate in the latest draw in this stream had a score of 489 out of 1,000.

Skilled workers overseas

Candidates selected under Skilled workers overseas stream got directly invited through a Strategic Recruitment Initiative. This can include overseas recruitment activities organized by MPNP. It's often done in association with employers from Manitoba.

Manitoba’s EOI scoring system is used to rank the candidates of this stream. In the latest draw, these candidates needed a score of 714 or more to be eligible for an LAA.

International education stream

This stream has candidates with some in-demand skills invited through the draw. The sub-categories involved in this stream are:

  • Career Employment Pathway
  • Graduate Internship Pathway
  • International Student Entrepreneur Pilot

The number of LAAs issued to each of these streams were as follows:

Skilled Workers in Manitoba 93 LAAs
Skilled Workers Overseas 25 LAAs
International Education 14 LAAs
