Ireland Processes a Record Number of Citizenship Applications in 2024

According to the data released by the Department of Justice, Ireland has processed a record number of citizenship applications this year. Over 30,000 Irish citizenship applications were approved, and 6,000+ passports were issued to foreign nationals.

According to the reports, the 2024 citizenship statistics are higher than those of previous years. 6,000+ foreign nationals from 140 countries attended the citizenship ceremonies conducted on December 2 and 3, 2024.

Ireland Announces New Changes to Streamline the Irish Citizenship Process

Ireland has taken several measures to accelerate the citizenship application process for foreigners. The Irish Department of Justice recently introduced a new online digital platform for applicants to switch to the online application process.

While the offline application process is still in line, Ireland has introduced online payments, eVetting, and online application processes to speed up the process for foreigners.  Starting November 4, 2024, the application process for Residence permit renewals will be shifted online for foreign nationals.
