IRELAND IMMIGRATION FROM AUSTRALIA

The Republic of Ireland has become a popular destination for immigrants. Due to Ireland’s relatively healthy economy and an immigration system designed to make it simple for highly talented individuals to work in the country, the country has become a popular destination for highly skilled immigrants. Ireland is known for its traditions, culture and rich history.

MIGRATING TO IRELAND

Since Ireland is a member of the EU, citizens of EU countries do not require a visa to migrate but citizens of other countries definitely require a visa.

Citizens of non-EU countries require a visa to move to Ireland. There are two types of visas:

SHORT STAY VISAS

You should apply for a short stay ‘C’ visa if you want to visit Ireland for less than three months. If you wish to visit Ireland as a tourist, pay a visit to someone, conduct business, or take a short course, you should apply for this sort of visa.

A ‘C’ visa allows you to stay for a maximum of three months. If you want to return to Ireland, you must depart and apply for a new visa.

LONG STAY VISAS

You can apply for a long stay ‘D’ visa if you intend to come to Ireland for more than three months, for example to study, work, or reside permanently in Ireland with family members who live in Ireland.

If you are given a long-term ‘D’ visa and intend to stay in Ireland for more than three months, you must register and obtain an Irish residence permit (IRP).

PERMANENT RESIDENCY

Foreign nationals who have lived in Ireland for five years with some form of work authorization are eligible for the Ireland Permanent Residence Permit.

Foreign people who obtain permanent residency in Ireland will receive a Stamp 4 on their passport, which is valid for five years and renewable.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCY

If you meet the following criteria, you may apply for permanent residency in Ireland:

  • You have legally resided in Ireland for at least five years (60 months). The time you spent outside of Ireland during those five years is not included.
  • You have held a Stamp 1 or Stamp 4 and have resided in Ireland with some sort of work permission, such as an Employment Permit.
  • You can also apply to be excluded from the need for an Irish work permit, allowing you to work without having to apply for one.
  • At the time of application, your Irish residence permit is valid.
  • At the time of your application, you are employed.
  • You have a good character.
