Hotels in Canada prepared for travelers waiting for COVID test results

We are sure you are aware that from February 22, 2021, travelers to Canada must stay in quarantine for 3 days after arrival, in a hotel that’s government-authorized. Now, the Canadian government has released a list of such hotels where international travelers are allowed to be given room to stay while they await their COVID-19 test result.

The new measure was recently announced by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to keep the pandemic at bay in Canada. So, as per the new measure announced, the travelers will have to stay in one of these hotels, pay expenses that could come to $2,000, and in the meanwhile get their PCR test results to be sure you are COVID positive or negative.

These hotels for those who arrive in Canada on a Canada visitor visa or so are situated in one of the following Canadian cities, the airports where are the only ones allowed to receive international flights:

• Calgary (Calgary International Airport)
  • Marriot Calgary Airport
  • Acclaim Hotel
• Vancouver (Vancouver International Airport)
  • Westin Wall Centre Vancouver Airport
• Montreal (Montréal Pierre-Elliot Trudeau International Airport)
  • Crowne Plaza Montreal Airport
  • Aloft Montreal Airport
  • Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal
  • Holiday Inn Express and Suites Montreal Airport
• Toronto
  • Four Points by Sheraton and Element Toronto Airport
  • Alt Hotel Pearson Airport
  • Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Toronto International Airport
  • Holiday Inn Toronto International Airport

You can get all the booking-related information for booking a hotel for quarantine purposes. Once your booking is confirmed, the Canadian government will send you an email for the same within 4 hours of booking.

The travelers are instructed by the Canadian government to use the ArriveCAN app to prove that they have done their hotel reservation.

As per the latest rules, travelers to Canada are required to get tested for COVID-19 and get a negative test before boarding the plane to Canada. Upon arriving in Canada, they will be tested again. From February 22, 2021, the travelers must stay at one of the hotels mentioned above and wait for the test results in Canada.

If the test result comes out as negative, the traveler can go to their destination to stay in Canada and complete their 14-day compulsory quarantine from there. There too, towards the end of the quarantine, the traveler must take another COVID-19 test. They will be helped with instructions and testing kits prior to their leaving the Canadian airport.
