  • The candidate's self-evaluation for eligibility for the immigration programs is the first step for the candidate.

Global Livability Index - 2022

Canada has only three cities in the top ten list of livable cities in the Global Livability Index 2022. Vienna is one of the top cities on this list, whereas then Copenhagen has taken over second place.

The Alberta, Calgary, and Zurich cities are in a tie stand on top third place. Although Zurich has outsmarted education and infrastructure for the culture and environment factors, the rank went down.

There is an increase in the ranking of the cities compared to 2021, as the COVID-19 restrictions made the cities go down. Canada's largest and most populated city Toronto is in the eighth spot, and Vancouver is in fifth place. Toronto was in 20th place in 2021, whereas Damascus, Lagos, and Tripoli were on the list of unsafe cities for living and terrorism.

Rank Cities
1 Vienna, Austria
2 Copenhagen, Denmark
3 Zurich, Switzerland
4 Calgary, Canada
5 Vancouver, Canada
6 Geneva, Switzerland
7 Frankfurt, Germany
8 Toronto, Canada
9 Amsterdam, Netherlands
10 Osaka, Japan and Melbourne, Australia (tie)

Factors that affected the rankings

A survey study is conducted by the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU). The EIU was always into monitoring and evaluating most of the cities based on the effect of global development on the populations for the past 70 years.

Every year the EIU provides ranks for livability for cities all over the world based on elementary education and infrastructure, healthcare, stability, culture, and environment. Around 172 are present in this report in 2022, whereas there is an increase in the number of cities from 33 considering the 2021 report.

The comprehensive scores for all the cities worldwide have seen an improvement in general livability. There are higher scores for healthcare as the pressure caused during the pre-pandemic has been eased. Higher scores were reported for healthcare as the global medical systems, which were in high stress before, have begun to ease. The scores for the stability factor have dropped moderately.

Express Entry

The most outstanding immigration pathway to permanent residency is the Express Entry application management system. It has three different routes for the immigrants where they can check their eligibility online, get scores using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), and obtain ranks.

The candidate can assess their eligibility using any of the programs is one of the important steps. The eligible applicants can create their profiles and obtain the CRS scores with Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The CRS score is mainly based on language skills, education, work experience, and other human factors. The higher the CRS score, the higher the chances for the candidate to receive an invitation to apply (ITA) from IRCC.

These programs are allowed provincial governments to choose the candidates who satisfy the eligibility that fits their province. Every Canadian province leaving Quebec and Nunavut has its own PNPs to operate in alignment with IRCC.

Quebec Immigration Programs

Quebec has its own criteria and procedures for selecting immigrants. If a candidate is selected using Quebec immigration programs, then your family will obtain Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ). Then the applicants who get CSQ can apply for permanent residence.
