British Columbia issues invites to 90 new tech candidates

Another round of Tech Pilot immigration draw was held by British Columbia on April 20, 2021. 90 immigration candidates were invited to apply for a provincial nomination.

Immigration candidates under the categories of Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC were invited via the BC PNP Tech Pilot draw. The minimum score required for invited candidates from Internation Graduate and Skilled Worker sub-categories was 80.

The candidates who received invites from BC have 30 calendar days to apply. BC has till now invited 3,531 new immigration candidates this year.

The BC PNP is a fast-track PNP. It is meant to help the province to meet the requirement of in-demand tech workers and find international students skilled and qualified enough for BC’s tech market.

The Tech Pilot seeks candidates who have registered under SIRS with one of BC’s provincial immigration streams. They should also have a job offer from an employer in BC in one of 29 skilled jobs considered eligible by the Tech Pilot program. The job offered must be valid for a minimum of 12 months.

Those who apply are evaluated and scores are given upon which it’s decided whether they can be invited to BC. The factors considered to determine the score of a candidate include education, work experience, and a job offer in BC.

Tech Pilot draws are conducted weekly. The latest extension of this pilot program for Canada immigration that was launched in May 2017 is till June 2021.
