British Columbia sent invitations to 370 immigration candidates in 2 PNP draws held on May 25, 2021.

British Columbia conducted 2 separate invitation rounds under its PNP program as it has been doing since February 2021. One of the draws was a general draw and the other targeted wholesale and retail trade managers, and restaurant and foodservice managers. There are quite a large number of registrants in the BC PNP SI Registration System with these 2 jobs. BC is attempting to balance the requirements in every sector of the labor market in the province.

Candidates from the SI and EEBC streams of the BC PNP got invitations in the general draw.

To be more specific, invitations were sent to candidates from the Skilled Worker, Entry Level & Semi-Skilled, and International Graduate sub-categories of the 2 above-mentioned streams.

The minimum score required for the May 25 draw was between 76 and 94 points. In total, 323 candidates got invited.

The separate draw was also held under the categories of SI and EEBC. It aimed at candidates whose jobs fall under NOC 0631 or NOC 0621. This draw’s result was 47 invitations. The minimum score required was 111.

Till now in 2021, BC issued 4,808 invitations in all via various streams of BC PNP.

 BC PNP - An introduction

The BC PNP intends to rope in foreign workers to the labor market in BC as they are in high demand. These workers are willing to become permanent resident Canada accepts and settle in the province.

The BC PNP has 2 streams for immigration: Express Entry and Skills Immigration. Both of these have sub-categories. The management of these streams is handled by BC’s SIRS. If you want to apply via the SIRS, you must register an account first. After that, you will be given a score on the basis of factors like work experience, language skills, and education.

Candidates who score the highest from each sub-category then get ITAs for a provincial nomination. This will in time lead to an application for Canada PR when BC holds a regular draw.

After receiving an invitation, you will have 30 days, counted from the date of the invitation, to file a complete application. The application will be filed via the online system of BC PNP.

Once you file a complete BC PNP application package you will get the notification of the decision of the province on the same. This will happen within 2 to 3 months approximately. If you succeeded in getting a nomination, you will be eligible to apply to IRCC for a Canada PR visa under the Provincial Nominee Class.

The validity of the nomination is for six months approximately from the confirmation date of the application.

Having earned the provincial nomination, you may also get an extra 600 CRS points. This will raise your score high enough to get an ITA in a federal Express Entry draw held in the future.
