A Canada visa can lead you to many opportunities in the areas of study, work and immigration. Through Canada's temporary visa and Canada PR visa, you can explore the best of opportunities in the country. Immigration programs like Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Programs help skilled migrants come and find a future in Canada.

Canada looks up to immigrants to sustain and develop its economy, population, and culture. Skilled workers from overseas are very much in demand in various economic areas of the country. It’s this vital role that immigrants play in Canada’s present and future that motivates Canada immigration. Even in this critical time owing to COVID-19, Canada is accepting visa applications. Much of these visas issued are temporary visas. These are related to work, study and visit.

Do you know enough about Canada’s temporary visas? Here let us glance upon a few helpful queries and their answers.

What’s a temporary visa?

Anyone residing in Canada other than the country’s citizens and permanent residents has very limited rights and freedom. They live in Canada on a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). This visa is issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). These people include tourists, students, and workers.

Who all visiting Canada requires a temporary visa?

Those who arrive in Canada from a visa-exempt country don’t need a visa to step into Canada. Such people should obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before boarding the flight to Canada. If such a person is coming by land, neither TRV nor eTA is necessary.

How necessary is a study permit in Canada to study?

A study permit isn’t required if your studies in Canada will last less than 6 months. For study beyond 6 months, you need a Study Permit. Along with the permit, a Temporary Resident Visa is also necessary. Here also, a person from a visa-exempt country is not required to do so.

What Is the procedure to be eligible for a work permit in Canada?

There are many ways to earn eligibility for a Work Permit. Often, your Canadian employer must demonstrate his/her inability to get Canadian citizens or Canadian permanent residents to work in the position given to an immigrant worker.

What if the work permit application is refused?

A formal procedure to appeal against the rejection of an application doesn’t exist. One way to go is to reapply. But it’s best that reapplication is done after having considerable addition in information submitted in the application.

How long can you stay in Canada on TRV?

You can be a temporary resident for a maximum of 6 months if there’s no stamp, handwritten date or document in your passport. These months will be calculated from the day of your arrival in Canada.

What’s the procedure of extending a temporary stay?

The application for extending temporary stay should be submitted at least 30 days prior to the expiry of your visa status. You can stay back in Canada if your temporary visa expires after you submit the extension application, and a decision on it is pending. This is possible under implied status. Such status ends when a decision is made on the extension application.
