Australia has launched two new visa agreements to sponsor foreign workers. The Govt. feels that this will help the multicultural communities in the country. David Coleman, Immigration Minister, launched two new visa agreements. These are for aged care workers and religious institution workers. The new visa agreement allows aged care facilities in Australia to sponsor overseas carers. These carers should have the requisite skills to care for the elderly in Australian communities. However, Aged Care Workers do not feature on the list of eligible occupations. Mr Coleman said that there is a growing need for bilingual aged care workers. This is because the elderly with dementia often revert back to their native language. They also, quite often, lose the ability to speak in a second language. The new visa agreement will allow Australian aged care facilities to sponsor foreign workers on the TSS or Employer Nomination Scheme Visa. The employers will, however, need to prove that they could not find a local Australian for the job. Australia has launched a new occupation of Religious Assistant. Religious Institutions in Australia will have access to this occupation. It will help broaden the scope for sponsoring foreign workers. It will also expand the scope of the occupation of Minister of Religion. The new visa agreement will allow the sponsored employee to work in any senior profile in the country. There are, currently, 23,000 Minister of Religions in Australia. Mr Coleman expects strong growth in the numbers in the coming years. The new visa agreement will help address the shortage of religious workers in Australia. The new visa agreements will have the same salary and age concessions as the current visas. These arrangements will be effective from 11th March, as per SBS News. Both these visa agreements will offer a pathway to Permanent Residence.
