In an Alberta PNP draw held on August 30, 2021, invitations were sent to 400 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. These candidates required a minimum CRS score of 301 to qualify for the invitations.

With this round of invitations, Alberta has invited 4,007 Express Entry candidates so far in 2021. The cap on Alberta for the issue of invitations in 2021 is 6,500. So, there will be more invitation rounds in Alberta soon.

Alberta and the search for skilled immigrants

Alberta, like other Canadian provinces, has the need for more qualified and skilled workers to fill in-demand job positions. To this end, Alberta PNP holds invitation rounds with the Alberta Express Entry System contributing to the cause.

This enhanced PNP lets Alberta’s provincial government look into the Express Entry pool and find profiles of suitable candidates. They are then invited to apply for a provincial nomination which leads them to the opportunity to apply for Canada PR.

Currently, the job scene in Alberta needs skilled workers in in-demand occupations including:

  • Trade managers - Retail and wholesale
  • Information system analysts & consultants
  • Computer programmers & interactive media developers
  • Licensed nurses
  • Graphic designers & Illustrators
  • Residential and commercial installers as well as services

The Alberta PNP draws are aimed at finding suitable candidates to fill these and more job vacancies

Eligibility for Alberta Express Entry stream

You must have work experience in an eligible occupation to be eligible for provincial nomination via the Alberta Express Entry stream. The eligible occupations can be deduced by checking the list of non-eligible occupations released by AINP.

If you want to improve your chances of getting nominated by Alberta, consider having these:

  • Work experience
  • Job offer in Alberta
  • A Canadian education
  • A parent, sibling, or child who is already a Canada PR or a Canadian citizen living in Alberta
