Alberta issues invitations to 250 Express Entry candidates on May 18, 2021. They were invited to file applications for a provincial nomination. The draw was announced by Alberta on May 25, 2021, on its website.

The candidates who got invites had to have an Express Entry profile deemed valid. They also required a minimum CRS score of 301.

This was the tenth draw of 2021 that was held through the AINP.

Till now this year, Alberta has issued invites to1,909 Express Entry candidates through its PNP draws. After a while of inaction, the resumption of issuing nomination certificates happened in January 2021.

If the candidates who got invites had eligibility for nomination via the Alberta Express Entry stream, an extra 600 CRS points will be awarded upon their original overall CRS score. With that advantage, they will have a better chance to get invited to apply for Canada PR.

The AINP operates the PNPs for immigrants willing to settle in Alberta.

An enhanced PNP, the Alberta Express Entry stream chooses candidates from the pool of candidates in the Express Entry system. To get eligibility for this program, the candidate must first create a profile in the Express Entry system.

About Express Entry

Express Entry is an application management system of the federal government of Canada. It manages applications to 3 Federal High Skilled programs namely FSTP, FSWP, and CEC.

If you have eligibility for Express Entry, you will receive a score on the basis of the scrutiny done by the CRS. It gives points to a candidate for factors including his/her education, age, language ability in English/French, and work experience.

The IRCC holds Express Entry draws regularly. These draws are events to invite the highest-scoring candidates to apply for a Canada PR visa.

You could move to Canada through the Express Entry system even if you didn’t have a provincial nomination. But provincial nominees get 600 extra CRS points automatically when their nominations are granted by a province in Canada.

About Alberta Express Entry Stream

The Alberta Express Entry Stream is designed for Express Entry candidates with strong connections with Alberta. This quality of the candidate is utilized by the provincial government so that it can find the right candidates who can support the province’s economic development and priorities for diversification.

Mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Alberta is sticking to considering candidates who are already residing and employed in the province.

These candidates must have work experience in an occupation considered eligible. They must also have at least 300 points as their CRS score in order to get an invitation from Alberta.

The province of Alberta got permission to issue 6,250 provincial nomination certificates last year. This year, the Canadian government has made an allocation of 6,250 nomination certificates to Alberta.
