On November 23 2018, Saskatchewan issued 247 invitations to Overseas Immigrants. In addition, it sent 267 more invitations to candidates who meet the Occupation in-demand criteria. Overseas Immigrants receiving this invite will get an additional 600 points. This will get them an invitation for Canadian PR. Saskatchewan is a part of Canada’s Express Entry system for Permanent Residency. The three main categories in the system are -
  • Skilled Worker Class
  • Federal Skilled Trades Class
  • Canadian Experience Class
Candidates need to register a profile with the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program or SINP. Next, they should submit an Expression of Interest or EOI. This July, Saskatchewan changed its first-come-first-served application approach. Under the EOI system, candidates should create a profile with the program. Then they should provide the required information. That includes education, work experience and language proficiency. The Immigration system offers scores to the profiles based on the Overseas Worker point grid. The selection criteria mostly depend on the aspiring Immigrant’s experience. Only eligible profiles will go into the EOI pool. Thereafter, candidates will receive scores. Overseas immigrants with the highest scores receive the invitations. This process will eventually lead them to the Canadian PR Visa. Immigrants need to meet the following criteria for the Express Entry subcategory -
  • They should score at least 60
  • They should hold work experience in a high-skilled occupation
  • Before applying, they should check Saskatchewan’s in-demand occupations list
  • A job offer from the province is not required
Immigrants aiming for Canadian PR must meet the following criteria for Occupation In-Demand subcategory -
  • They must score at least 64
  • They should have at least 1 year of work experience in one of Saskatchewan’s in-demand occupations
  • They need not have any job offer from the province
As reported by CIC News, Saskatchewan has issued 3,337 invitations already. 1552 invitations come under Express Entry Skilled Worker subcategory. Through the Occupation in-demand subcategory, it sent 1785 invitations. Overseas Immigrants skilled in one of the in-demand occupations should avail of this opportunity. It will only ensure their place in the Canadian PR visa invitations.
