Egypt Visit Visa: eVisa Requirements & Documents

Egypt is one of the most popular short-haul destinations from the UAE, and for most travellers the process of getting there is simpler than many expect. UAE nationals and GCC citizens do not need a visa at all. Most other nationalities can apply for an Egypt eVisa online in minutes or pick up a visa on arrival at the airport.

This page explains which option applies to you, what the process actually involves, and what documents you genuinely need to have ready — whether you are planning a week in Cairo, a Nile cruise, or a long weekend at Sharm El Sheikh.

There are 2 different types of visas for tourists visiting Egypt.

A single-entry visa for a single visit to Egypt, or a multi-entry visa for people who fly to and from Egypt on a daily basis.

Single- entry tourist visa: The single-entry tourist visa allows visitors to remain in Egypt for 30 days for tourism purposes. The eVisa will be invalid after it has been used once to access an Egyptian port of entry. To travel again to Egypt, you’ll need another valid eVisa.

Multiple-entry tourist visa: Egypt’s multiple-entry tourist visa allows for multiple entries via national borders over a six-month span. This allows the foreign citizen to stay for up to 30 days per entry during the validity period.

Egypt eVisa — Fees, Validity, and Types (2026)

Egypt updated its eVisa fees in 2026. The current rates, effective from April 27, 2026, are:

Visa Type Fee (USD) Fee (approx. AED) Stay Allowed Visa Validity
Single-entry eVisa USD 30 AED 110 30 days per entry 3 months from issue
Multiple-entry eVisa USD 65 AED 240 30 days per entry 6 months from issue
Visa on Arrival (single) USD 30 AED 110 30 days 30 days from entry
Sinai-only stamp Free Free 15 days 15 days
5-year multiple-entry USD 700 AED 2,570 Up to 30 days/entry 5 years

Important: The AED figures are approximate, based on the prevailing exchange rate at the time of writing. The USD fee is fixed; the AED equivalent changes with the exchange rate. Pay in USD where possible to avoid conversion discrepancies.

All visa fees are non-refundable regardless of the outcome or if you cancel your trip.

Application process

To apply for an eVisa, the applicants must first complete an Egypt tourist visa application form before travelling to the country. Applicants must follow these steps:

  • Fill out a webform with your personal information.
  • Pay the processing fee using a credit or debit card.
  • Provide a valid email address for receiving the approved visa.

Egypt Visit Visa Eligibility Requirements

  • Have a genuine reason to visit the country
  • Have the finances to support your stay
  • Meet health and character requirements
  • Have proof of motive to return to your home country

Documents required for the tourist visa application

  • A valid passport
  • Passport size photos
  • Old passports and visa
  • A copy of your completed and signed visa application form
  • Details about your itinerary
  • Proof of hotel bookings, flight bookings
  • Copy of tour ticket
  • A cover letter with all the required details about your itinerary
  • Statement from your bank of the last six months to prove you have enough finances to fund your visit
  • Income tax statements of last three years
  • Salary slips of last 6 months
  • Character certificate from the local police in your country

Validity and Processing time

The visa is valid for a period of 3 months from the date of issue. The processing time is usually seven days.

Extending Your Egypt Tourist Visa

If you are in Egypt and want to stay beyond your initial 30 days, you can apply for an extension before your current visa expires.

Extensions are processed at the Passport and Immigration Office in Abbassia, Cairo. Extensions can also be arranged at major regional immigration offices. Processing typically takes a few working days. Overstaying without an extension results in fines — approximately USD 100 for short overstays, increasing with duration.

If you are planning an extended stay in Egypt from the outset, the multiple-entry eVisa (valid for 6 months, with 30 days per entry) or the 5-year tourist visa are better-suited options than extending a single-entry visa after arrival.
