Germany study visas 

There are three types of visas with which an international student can apply to study in Germany. They are as follows:

German language program visa

 You can apply for a German student visa from your home country. International students are issued these visas to complete an intensive language program, ranging between three and twelve months. These courses have at least 18 hours of classes per week. It takes only up to three months to process a visa to study the German language.

 Student Applicant Visa 

It takes six to twelve weeks to process a student applicant visa application. Ensure to apply for it about four months before your course's commencement date in Germany.

This is issued to those who have applied for a German university course but have not been admitted to a university.

This student applicant visa is primarily for foreign students who should be in Germany to appear for universities acceptance exams that they are applicants for.

You will have to apply for a student applicant visa at an embassy or consulate of Germany in your country or close to your country.

Valid for three months, an extension of six months can be given to this visa. A student can thus stay in Germany for about nine months with a student applicant visa. If you do not secure admission to any institution within these nine months, you will not be allowed to stay in Germany.

Successful applicants who have been admitted into German universities will need to apply for student visas while being in Germany.

With a student applicant visa, you can stay in Germany to complete your chosen study program. While you are staying in the country with this visa, you are eligible to apply for a German residence permit from within the country.

It takes about six to twelve weeks to process a student applicant visa application. If you gain admission to a German educational institution, you will need to apply for a student visa in Germany.
