Abstract: USCIS will transfer the processing of a few H-1B visa applications to a different center to deal with the visa backlog.

The processing of visas across various categories has been slow in the past few months. It has happened due to a lack of staff at the service centers and, consequently, a massive backlog.

The USCIS or US Citizenship and Immigration Services will be transferring the processing of a few H-1B visa applications to another center to clear the existing visa backlog. It will help the individuals and their families who have chosen to migrate to the USA.

Quick Processing of H1-B Visa

The US government agency which oversees the visa process has said that some of the workloads were being shifted to California from the Vermont Service Center. This workload transfer will aid in issuing receipt notices for duly filed H-1B applications more quickly. It was being done to address the delay in issuing H-1B visas.

The lottery of H-1B visas was held last month. The selected applicants needed to submit the completed applications to start working in the US from October 1, 2022.

Changes in the Rules for the Visa

Multiple applications are for the extensions of visas. If the visa is not extended, the applicant will not be eligible to continue their work in the USA.

Former senators of the US have stated that there is a need to increase the number of H-1B visas being issued annually. The current figures could not keep up with the country's needs.

The American technology companies rely heavily on the H-1B visa program. The immigrants who come to the US through this program address the shortage of technical skills in the country.

To ease the backlog and slow-paced processing of the visa application, the US administration announced in May that it would extend work permits for specific categories of the green card H-1B visa candidates and their spouses.

The work permit would be extended for 18 months prior to the expiration date instead of the prior duration of six months.
