  • As per the latest rankings, 15 more Canadian universities have been placed among the top 500 universities in the world.
  • The global rankings covered a total of 2,000 universities.
  • The University of Toronto, the University of British Columbia, and McGill University are the three Canadian universities that made it to the top 100.

It’s time again to check the global rankings of the world’s best universities, and this time too Canada has scored high. Three Canadian universities came in the top 100 rankings as per the Best Global Universities rankings 2022-23. These universities are:

  • University of Toronto
  • University of British Columbia
  • McGill University

Here are the ranks and points of these universities as given in the Report:

The global rankings had a total of 2,000 universities included in its list. There are 15 more Canadian universities in the rankings which appeared in the top 500 rankings. These universities are:

  • York University
  • McMaster University
  • University of Waterloo
  • Dalhousie University
  • University of Manitoba
  • Queens University
  • Université de Montréal
  • University of Ottawa
  • Simon Fraser University

The reputation of the University of Toronto

The University of Toronto found its high ranking in the global rankings list by virtue of its reputation for global research and the number as well as the quality of the papers published by it.

The university has close to 78,000 students which also gives it a deserving mention for the size of its population of international students. Foreign students from over 160 countries attend this university in the thousands.

What makes the University of British Columbia special?

The University of British Columbia has 58,590 students enrolled in it. The university is noted for the following:

  • National TRIUMF subatomic physics laboratory
  • The Institute for Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Prevention
  • The Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at UBC Farm

At the University of British Columbia, international students in the first year have the option to join the Vantage One program. This is conducted at Vantage College of this university. The program intends to help students make improvements in their English language. This is done in part by extending their year one of study from eight months to 11 months.

McGill University recognized for excellence

This university has 32,309 students in total. This university has affiliations with many teaching hospitals, which made it stand out and get recognized. The medical school under the university is the oldest in Canada. There are more than 40 research centers at this university. These include:

  • The McGill Centre for Bioinformatics
  • The Centre for Intellectual Property Policy
  • The Centre on Population Dynamics
