Free Europe Travel Passes

According to Schengen News reports, the Commission of the EU will be distributing free travel passes under the DiscoverEU schemes. The scheme is launched under the Erasmus+ program. The programme allows nationals of EU member states and Erasmus+ associated countries to travel in Europe.

The DiscoverEU scheme aims to spread awareness about European heritage, diversity and history among youngsters. The scheme is also aimed at helping youngsters connect to the people of the continent. Around 180,000 applications for the free travel pass were received by the Commission in the last round held in April 2024.

Eligible candidates can travel alone or as a group of five between July 1, 2024, and September 2025. The Commission will also issue a European Youth card to selected candidates, providing discounts on cultural visits, lodgings, local transport facilities, educational activities, food, and sports activities.
