Here’s why it’s a bright idea to study in Canada. In the latest report, it has been stated that immigrants who have studied in Canada earn significantly more than those with foreign education, in their initial couple of years of working with a Canadian employer. Also, work experience gained by international students during their studies, as well as after graduation in Canada, increases their earnings with Canadian employers. These scenarios were detailed by Statistics Canada and IRCC. Tracking the number of immigrants who have Canadian education has increased remarkably. While the percentage of such economic immigrants was just 6% in 2000, it rose to 38% in 2019.

Why do international students in Canada make the best immigrants?

International students in Canada are the most ideal immigrants for a reason. They are young, healthy, not yet bogged down by familial concerns, ambitious, multilingual, and dynamic. When they are trained in Canadian institutions, they turn out to be more acceptable for Canadian employers.

What more does the report say?

The report reveals that immigrants with 2 to 3 years of studying in Canada earned close to 27% more than those who didn’t have a Canadian educational experience. This difference in income was apparent within 1 to 2 years after their arrival in Canada. However, this is hardly a consistent trend with those immigrants with over 3 years of Canadian study experience. They in fact earned less than those who studied for lesser years in Canada.

What gives international students with Canadian experience the edge?

One reason they get the edge is their work experience in Canada during their period of education in Canada. Another reason is the proficiency in English/French they gain in the course of their period of study in Canada. So, when Canadian employers choose potential employees, they definitely find candidates with higher proficiency in Canada’s official languages more acceptable. As a result, they are given more priority during the hiring process. Know your eligibility for Canada immigration. Use the Canada points calculator.
