PEI has revealed the details of its latest immigration draw on October 15, 2020.

A total of 211 ITAs were issued. The majority of the ITAs went to Express Entry and Labor Impact candidates. 184 invites were sent to these categories of candidates. 27 ITAs were sent to Business Impact candidates, who needed a minimum point threshold of 97.

Canadian provinces meet their need for skilled workers in their labor markets through PNP. In certain cases, PNPs align with the federal Express Entry system. PEI PNP is one such provincial nomination program.

Express Entry system manages the applications of immigration candidates for 3 economic-class immigration namely FSWP, FSTP, and CEC. The candidates eligible to participate in the Express Entry draws have their profiles ranked as per CRS. The CRS score is assigned based on factors like age, education, work experience, and proficiency in English and French languages.

When Canada immigration candidates get nominated by a province, they get 600 extra points that are added to their CRS score. This ensures that they get an ITA in an upcoming Express Entry draw.

To be eligible for a PEI nomination, Express Entry candidates must create an EOI profile with the PEI PNP. Points are awarded to the EOI profiles based on the province’s unique points grid. Candidates who score high are invited to apply via monthly draws.

Labor Impact candidates are foreign nationals who have received a valid job from PEI. They have support from an employer in PEI. The Labor Impact category is divided into the streams namely:

  • Critical worker
  • Skilled worker
  • International graduate

Candidates under this category must submit an EOI profile so that they can be considered for a provincial nomination.

The ITAs sent via the Business Impact category required an EOI score of 184. These ITAs were sent under the work permit stream. This stream is meant for foreign entrepreneurs intending to own and operate a business in PEI.
