Ontario opens provincial nomination Canada offers to 986 names

On June 1, 2021, Ontario issued invites to 986 Express Entry candidates. They were required to have a qualifying score of 300 so that they can apply for a provincial nomination Canada offers.

The OINP invited candidates who were considered fit for a nomination via the Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream of Ontario.

Selected candidates had CRS scores in the range from 300 to 379. The candidates had their profiles submitted between June 1, 2020, and June 1, 2021.

Invited candidates who go on to receive the nomination will be in effect guaranteed to get an ITA for Canada PR in an Express Entry draw that’s held in the future. The reason is that all Express Entry candidates who get a nomination from an enhanced PNP receive 600 CRS points additionally upon their base score.

All invited candidates will be contacted by OINP. 45 calendar days is what they have to apply for the provincial nomination Canada offers.

About the Ontario Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream

Ontario’s Skilled Trades Stream is linked to the federal Express Entry. It hence offers an opportunity to seek permanent residency. This is applicable for FSWP and CEC candidates. The OINP invites candidates who are eligible to file their applications for a provincial nomination Canada offers.

The candidates selected are those who are:

  • Deemed eligible,
  • Living in Ontario currently,
  • Having at least a year’s work experience in full-time employment, or the equivalent in part-time work.

The candidates must have completed the work experience mentioned in the criteria within the province. They must have had experience in a skilled trade that comes in the NOC list in Minor Group 633 or Major Group 72, 73, or 82.

To apply under the Skilled Trades Stream the candidates have no need for a job offer in Canada. However, candidates must satisfy all the mandatory requirements on the federal and provincial levels.

Only those who have submitted a profile to the Express Entry system will be considered for a provincial nomination.

About Express Entry

Express Entry is an application management system maintained by the federal government of Canada. It is a system that provides hopeful immigrants the opportunity and framework to file applications for Canada PR directly to IRCC. It mustn’t be mistaken for being an immigration program. The Express Entry only manages the applications for economy streams of Canada immigration namely: CEC, FSTP, FSWP.

If you have the eligibility for any of these programs, you are allowed to create an Express Entry profile. After uploading all your documents required along with the profile, you will be assigned a score on the basis of factors including your education, work experience, language skill in English/French, and age.

The candidates who score the highest will receive ITAs. That will allow them to apply for a Canada PR visa.
