A smartphone app has been launched by the United Arab Emirates for Indians applying for its work visas in a bid to improve the process and enable completion of most of the procedures in India with an aim to help them to enter that country’s workforce easily. Rolled out currently in English and Hindi for Android platforms, it will also soon be available in Malayalam as the most number of UAE work visa applicants hail from Kerala. Ahmed Al Banna, the UAE ambassador, was quoted as saying on 22 November that most processes done earlier in the UAE are being done now in India. He said that the app will simplify visa applications and make things simpler. Though this app, directions and guidelines will be provided to make the application process safe and smooth. It is supposed to work as an aid providing instructions to complete a specific procedure such as attestation of documents, police clearance certificate and the compulsory medical check-up. Al Banna said that their intention was to reduce the rigours for India and make it possible for them to start working within a day of their arrival in Emirates. As of now, there are three visa centres of the UAE in India in the cities Mumbai, Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram, with the one in Indian capital issuing about 50,000 work visas in 2017. With more than 2.6 million, Indians make up the largest expatriate community in the UAE. Of them, 20 percent are white-collar non-professionals, 20 percent are professionally qualified workers and the others are blue-collar workers. If you are looking to work in the UAE, talk to Y-Axis, the world’s largest immigrant and Visa Company, to apply for a work visa.
