Here’s what happened in the Manitoba immigration scene on October 7, 2021. Manitoba PNP invited a total of 426 immigration candidates across 3 PNP streams as follows:

Stream No. of invitations Min. EOI score
International Education Stream 55 None
Skilled Workers Overseas 21 729
Skilled Workers in Manitoba 350 446

Among the invitations sent, 84 were sent to Express Entry candidates.

About Express Entry

Express Entry is a points-based application management system. It's used by the federal government to manage applications for immigration. These applications are filed for 3 federal high-skilled immigration programs namely CEC, FSTP, and FSWP.

The applicants to Express Entry have their profiles added to a candidate pool. It's accessible to both federal and provincial governments. Every candidate profile is ranked by CRS with scores assigned. Factors like age, education, work experience, and skills in Canada’s official language are considered to decide the scores.

Provincial governments choose and nominate Express Entry candidates through PNP draws. They automatically add 600 extra points to their original CRS scores. This way, the candidates get a higher score. The high score will increase their chances to get an ITA to the near surety in a forthcoming federal immigration draw.

For a provincial nomination, these candidates need to create an EOI profile with the provincial PNP involved. The EOI profiles are given scores on the province’s unique points grid.

The highest-scoring Express Entry candidates are invited by IRCC. They are invited to apply for Canada PR when they take part in regular invitation rounds. Those who are invited can officially apply for Canada immigration.

If immigration candidates want to receive invitations from Manitoba PNP under the International Education stream, they must complete their education in Manitoba. They must also demonstrate that they have the required in-demand skills sought by the province.

If immigration candidates want to receive invitations from Manitoba PNP under the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream, they must show that they have connections with Manitoba. This could be by way of family members in the province, invitation received via one of Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives or prior experience in Manitoba.

If immigration candidates want to receive invitations from Manitoba PNP under Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream, they will require to have a full-time paid job offer from an employer in Manitoba.
