 About Manitoba

Manitoba features a relaxed lifestyle and has very friendly towns and cities. Immigrants arriving in Manitoba intend to:

  • Land a good job
  • Start a new business
  • Live a new life in Manitoba

The province also has a very strong economy that offers many job opportunities for skilled workers from all over the world. Though English is the official language of Manitoba, there are many more languages spoken in the province. But that won’t be a concern to you if you are proficient in English.

Manitoba has remarkable significance in the landscape of Canada. The province’s motto is “where the heart of Canada beats”.

Manitoba is also home to a large population of immigrants; in fact, one of the largest. You can grab the opportunity to apply for a Canada PR visa through participation in Manitoba PNP draws and getting a provincial nomination.

If you have created a profile in Canada Express Entry, the most popular pathway for Canada immigration, even with a low CRS score, you could be discovered by the province if you are suitable by skills and other factors.

With a provincial nomination, you get additional 600 CRS points that can push you further to the front of the line of Canada immigration candidates waiting to be invited in a federal immigration draw.

Immigration programs of Manitoba

The Manitoba PNP manages the province’s immigration programs. These programs support the applications for Canada immigration to the federal government.

To benefit from the nomination received from Manitoba, you have to first register an EOI with Manitoba PNP. After this, you will be eligible to receive an LAA through the following immigration streams:

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba
  • Skilled Workers Overseas

Manitoba PNP ranks candidates on a 1,000-points scale based on human capital factors. Those who are invited via the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream, the candidates must have a connection with the province. This connection could be through family members already in Manitoba, an invitation via a Strategic Recruitment Initiative in Manitoba, or a previous experience in Manitoba.

If you want to be invited under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream, you must have a job offer from a Manitoba employer.

The International Students Stream is for international students who have completed their education in Manitoba. They will have to demonstrate that they have the in-demand skills required.
