Details of Canada Immigration Plan 2023:

Canada has invited immigrants to be a part of their families through different category-based programs. In 2023, the immigration plan was to bring 1.3 million people from across the globe as permanent residents of Canada. Canada had succeeded in inviting 354,000 immigrants by 2023 through category-based programs.

In 2023, IRCC began conducting this category-based program, which focuses on selecting specific categories of immigrants eligible for the country. These categories were based on:

  • French language proficiency.
  • Have a recent work experience on: Healthcare, Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics (STEM), Trades, Transport, and Agri-Food/Agriculture.

Upcoming immigration plan for 2024:

As discussed earlier, IRRC will also follow the same pattern for choosing immigrants this year. In the immigration plan for 2024-26, Canada is going to invite a total number of 485,000 permanent residents in 2024. This time, there would be a reassessment of the categories, which means new sectors and proficiency will also get a chance to be chosen by IRCC as an area of focus for migration.

Five processes through which IRCC invites immigrants:

  • Express Entry Program
  • Family class Sponsorship program
  • Provincial Nominee Programs
  • LMIA Work Permits
  • Business Immigration Program
