The Express Entry system is the easiest and most popular way to obtain a PR in Canada. But, to be eligible to participate in an Express Entry draw, you need to secure an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from the government of Canada, which mandates that you have to get a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. *Check your eligibility to Canada with the help of Y-Axis Canada Immigration Points calculator. All aspiring immigrants who submit their profiles are granted a CRS score from a total of 1200 points before entering the Express Entry pool. The draw for the Express Entry draw is conducted periodically, and only those who get a minimum CRS score required for that specific draw get an ITA to apply for the Canada PR visa. More often than not, the CRS score sways for each Express Entry draw. https://youtu.be/9sfHg8OlD7E What is the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)? A points-based system, CRS, is used to grade and evaluate possible migrants. Various factors used for granting scores in CRS are age, skills, educational qualifications, work experiences, language proficiency (English or French), and other factors. If you do not get a minimum CRS score, you will have to work out how to improve your points to get an ITA. Age: Those aged between 18 and 35 score the highest. Educational qualifications: An applicant's minimum educational qualification should be equivalent to Canada's higher secondary education level. Work experience: Those who have a good amount of work experience will obtain more points. Candidates with work experience in Canada get additional points. Language proficiency: Candidates need to get a minimum of six bands in IELTS (equivalent to CLB 7) to qualify to apply.  Adaptability: Candidates get more than ten points if they have close family members who live in Canada and are ready to support them when they relocate there. Human capital and spouse/partner factors: A maximum of 500 points are granted under both these factors. Your human capital score will be calculated based on the criteria mentioned above. If you are moving to Canada alone, you can get up to 500 points. If you are moving with your spouse/partner to Canada, you can only get up to 460 points. Skill Transferability: You can get up to 100 points in this category where three major factors are considered: Educational qualifications: A high level of proficiency in English and French and a post-secondary degree or work experience in Canada together with a post-secondary degree can earn candidates up to 50 points.  Work Experience: Overseas work experience and language proficiency of high-level English or French or work experience in Canada with work experience overseas will also grant candidates up to 50 points. Canadian qualification: A qualification certificate with high-level proficiency in French or English will grant them up to 50 points How to improve your CRS score As many PR visa applicants select the Express Entry system to apply, there is always tough competition between applicants to get ITAs. Improving language score: If candidates perform well in the IELTS, they will improve their CRS scores. Those who score a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 9 in the language test can add up to 136 direct points to their CRS scores. If you do well in the French test, you can gain up to 24 points. Apply under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP): If applying for a PR visa under the PNP of Canada, 600 points will be added to an Express Entry profile, provided an ITA is issued. Job offer in hand: A job offer in hand from a Canada-based employer will give an applicant 200 additional points. But the condition is that the job offer must be of a minimum of one-year duration. Education in Canada: Those who have received a Canadian degree or diploma get 30 additional points. Apply with spouse:  Couples who apply for visas with their spouses gain additional points. The language proficiency of their spouse would be up to 20 points, while an educational level and work experience in Canada can earn them 10 points under each category. Obtain an approved job offer:  Individuals can add up to 600 points to their CRS scores if they have a job offer from a Canadian employer, which is recognized by the Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). Will CRS scores rise in 2022? As the pandemic continues to wane, restrictions are being eased on immigrants arriving in Canada, leading to a drop in CRS scores in 2022.
