What’s the Global Talent Stream (GTS)?

The Global Talent Stream comes under the Talent Worker Program. This skilled immigration stream offers timely, predictable, and responsive client-focused service. This stream aims to expand the country’s workforce to make them globally competitive.

How the GTS works?

Innovative business firms in Canada are referred to Employment & Social Development Canada. This is done by a designated referral partner. These business firms will be in need of unique and specialized foreign nationals so that they can scale up and grow. Firms in Canada need to recruit skilled workers for in-demand highly-skilled positions. These occupations are present on the Global Talent Occupations List. Employers in Canada recruiting foreign workers through GTS are obliged to develop a Labor Market Benefits Plan. What this means is that the employer will demonstrate that the chosen employees will bring about a lasting, positive impact on the labor market in Canada. Also read... Through this, an assessment of the employer’s readiness to meet the commitment is done. As of April 4, 2022, employers who submit an application for LMIA for a high-wage job position may request an employment duration of not more than 3 years. The duration of employment must align with the reasonable employment requirements of the Canadian employer. How to apply through GTS?

Apply through the LMIA online portal The employer must have a valid Job Bank user account to access an LMIA account. The process of registration for new registration in Job Bank can be completed within 10 minutes approximately. With a Job Bank account, an LMIA application can be completed through the LMIA online portal. After the application by the employer gets approved a temporary foreign worker is hired in a high-wage job position. The foreign worker then applies for a Canada work permit. This work permit would be employer-specific. The validity of the work permit will be as long as the worker stays with the particular employer.
