Invitations through Express Entry will be changed in 2023

IRCC will hold Express Entry draws through new authorities in 2023 so that candidates can be invited on the basis of specific attributes rather than CRS scores. Changes were made to Express Entry through Bill C-19 which was passed on June 2022 in both houses.

According to this bill, Immigration Minister can issue invitations for candidates having any in-demand skills or abilities. Sean Fraser revealed that changes in Express Entry will help in inviting more immigrants to boost the Canadian economy. IRCC stated that the bill will allow invitations through Express Entry on a new basis.

Targeted candidates in the 2023 Express Entry draws

The dates for the targeted Express Entry draws have not been revealed but the Immigration Minister stated that provinces, business councils, and other stakeholders will be consulted regarding the candidates to be targeted. One of the sectors for which the candidates will be targeted is healthcare.

In October 2022, job vacancy rate for the healthcare sector was 6 percent. Future Express Entry draws may target candidates having experience in the healthcare sector. Another sector is the IT industry for which Express Entry draws in 2023 will be held.
