Base PNP and Enhanced PNP comparison

Let us compare both types of PNPs

Base PNP

Base Provincial Nominee Program allows some Canadian provinces and territories to invite foreign skilled workers to live, work, and settle in Canada. Candidates will get the opportunity to apply for a Canada PR visa and later they can go for Canadian citizenship through naturalization. Each province has different types of PNPs for various categories of workers. One of these programs is connected to Express Entry. The connection between Express Entry and PNP leads to Enhanced PNP nominations.

Enhanced PNP

Candidates having their profile in the Express Entry pool can receive notifications from a Canadian province or if they are eligible. If candidates receive a provincial nomination certificate, it will be termed as an enhanced PNP nomination. This enhanced nomination will let the candidates to be managed under the Express Entry but they will receive an invitation for immigration from a Canadian province. It can also happen that PNP candidates may be invited to apply through Express Entry.

Benefits of Enhanced PNP

The main benefit that candidates will get is that they will receive a Provincial Nomination certificate and get an additional 600 points. Besides this, the PR applications for these candidates will be processed within 6 months. Candidates have to work and settle in the province from where they have received the invitations. To get the enhanced nomination, candidates have to fulfill the eligibility criteria for both Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Program.

Process to get enhanced PNP nomination

Candidates need to go for processes of both Express Entry and PNP. The process to get an enhanced PNP nomination is mentioned below:
  • Check whether you are eligible to apply through Express Entry
  • Submit an application for Express Entry through any of the following pragmas:
  • Some provinces and territories may ask to let them know whether you are interested to apply in their enhanced PNP stream. Interested provinces will send you a notification of interest
  • You can contact the province and go through their PNP process
  • If you fulfill the eligibility criteria, you will receive a provincial nomination certificate along with additional 600 points within the Express Entry pool.
  • Apply for Canada PR along with passing police check and medical exam
  • Submit all the requirements with the application
