In the latest Canadian Express Entry draw held on September 24th, the CRS score dropped to 284 for Federal Skilled Trades Class candidates. 400 ITA’s (Invitation to Apply) were issued in this program-specific draw.
This was the 100th draw of the Federal Express Entry Program. The Canadian Express Entry Program was introduced in January 2015. This system manages applications for Permanent Residency through 3 economic migration programs- Federal Skilled Trades Class, Federal Skilled Workers Program and the Canadian Experience Class.
Program-specific Express Entry draws are more of an exception rather than the norm. The last program-specific draw that targeted FSTC candidates was held on 30th May 2018, as per CIC News. 500 ITA’s were issued to candidates with the lowest score being 288.
Trades professionals who are certified to work in certain occupations and have an offer of employment from Canada are eligible to apply under the FSTC. The eligibility criteria for FSTC are:

- Should meet the requirements of the skilled trade as outlined in the NOC
- Should have an offer of employment for at least 1 year or a certificate of qualification in a particular skilled trade issued by a Canadian province, territory or federal authority
- Should provide proof of English language proficiency with a score of at least CLB 5 in Listening and Speaking, and at least CLB 4 for Writing and Reading
Applicants who have received the invitations would now have 60 days time to submit their completed applications for Permanent Residency to IRCC.
