In the latest round of invitations held on July 22, 2020, 557 Express Entry (EE) candidates were invited to apply for permanent residence. This brought the total immigration candidates invited this year to 54,357.
In this draw, only those candidates who had already got Provincial Nominee Program(Canada PNP) nominations were sent invites. This means that the original CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score of a candidate was topped up with 600 points. Hence the cut-off score in this draw was 687. This was the lowest CRS required of a candidate for a PNP-specific draw in 2020 so far.
Since Canada closed its borders in mid-March to prevent the spread of COVID-19, this draw was the 9th PNP-specific draw that was conducted for Canada immigration. During the lockdown, Canada focused on alternating between draws that targeted candidates from CEC (Canadian Experience Class) and provincial nomination. It was in early July 2020 that all-program draw resumed since the COVID-19 pandemic.
CEC has been noted for having declining CRS score requirements. The most recent CEC draw had the lowest CRS cut-off score this year as yet.
The tie break rule applied by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) in this draw was November 11, 2019, at 8:51:21 UTC. So, all candidates having a CRS score over 687 and those having scores of 687 with their profiles submitted before the above-mentioned date and time got an ITA (Invitation to Apply) in this draw.
Even though IRCC is not currently sticking to its usual once in 2 weeks all-program schedule, Canada is on track and at the right pace to get to its EE target of 85,800 ITAs in 2020.
To manage immigration Canada has the Express Entry system that handles applications for 3 economic class programs. These are:
