Canada is setting the stage for the arrival of 1.3 million Permanent Residents in the next 2 years. The country is all set to increase its immigration targets for 2019 and 2020.
A report by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) was made public on October 31. The news was announced as part of that report. They have extended their multi-year levels plan by another year. It has positioned Canada to welcome over 1.3 million newcomers through various Immigration categories between 2018 and 2021.
The targets for 2019 and 2020 were originally set at 330,000 and 340,000 respectively. However, it has been now increased to 330,800 and 341,000. Ahmed Hussen, Minister of IRCC, has said that Canada is looking to welcome more talented and skilled workers through this plan. They are willing to recruit people with the expertise that their economy needs. They even plan on reuniting more family members and accommodating refugees who want to start new lives.
