Canada raises the minimum hourly pay to $16.65 from April 1, 2023

  • Seamus O’Regan Jr said that the Federal Minimum Wage of Canada would increase to keep up with the growing cost of living.
  • The Federal Minimum Wage increased to $1.10 starting April 1, 2023.
  • Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) announced that there will be a $16.65 in the Federal minimum wage will increase from April 2023.
  • The decision to increase the Federal Minimum Wage was taken to keep up with the rising cost of living.
  • The Federal Minimum Wage increase applies to interns and workers employed in the federally controlled private sectors.

Canadian minimum wages of each province

  • Owing to the increase in the Minimum wage, between the minimum wage and the Federal minimum wage, Canadian employers are required to pay their employees a higher rate.
  • The rise in the wage rate is specifically for interns and workers employed in private sectors that include banks, interprovincial air, road, rail & marine transportation, and postal and courier services.
