On November 3, 2020, BC conducted a Tech Pilot draw and issued ITAs to 76 tech-skilled candidates to apply for a provisional nomination for Canada PR. The ITAs were issued to EEBC and Skills Immigration candidates.

The issue of ITAs was divided among the categories of International Graduate and Skilled Worker. The minimum provincial score the candidates required to qualify was 80.

About BC PNP Tech Pilot

The BC PNP Tech Pilot offers an immigration pathway on a fast-track basis for international IT workers and international students. These in-demand workers add to the technology industries in BC where there is a need for skilled people willing to work in Canada in tech companies.

To be considered for immigration to BC via the Tech Pilot program, candidates must have a valid job offer in any of the 29 eligible occupations.

There’s a difference between Tech Pilot and other British Collumbia PNP streams. While other streams need the candidate to have an offer of a permanent job, Tech Pilot asks for a minimum job duration of one year offered to the candidate. The job offer must be for a full-time job from an eligible employer in the BC province.

The candidates who receive ITAs have 30 days to lodge a complete application. After doing this, the processing of the tech applications will take 2 to 3 months.

Those applying under EEBC or Skills Immigration categories must first create a profile through the BC PNP’s online portal. The profile must be registered under its SIRS. The SIRS is a points system that’s used to prioritize candidates with the required skills. The parameters for assigning points and priorities include work experience, education level, employment location, and proficiency in the English language.

Candidates who get a nomination from BC will be given 600 extra points will be granted over the CRS score. This will in effect ensure that the candidate will receive an ITA in a future federal Express Entry draw.
