The review of Labor Force Surveys of 2021 has brought to fore a lot of positive observations about the performance of British Columbia in creating jobs and overall labor market performance. It also puts in perspective the role of the British Columbia PNP in ensuring that there’s an influx of skilled foreign workers who can contribute to the province’s development. In the process, they also find the best opportunities to develop their careers.

Even in an extremely challenging year like 2021, the province created over 100,000 jobs. Compared to 2020 figures, this is a 3.9% increase in jobs. In 2020, British Columbia created 84,000 full-time jobs. Things have turned out well for the province as can be figured from the fact that in December 2021 alone 25,000 jobs were created.

British Columbia has one of the lowest unemployment rates (5.3%) in Canada. Thus, the province has proven itself to be a leader in the process of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

It shows the success of the British Columbia PNP that the province has not only created significantly more jobs but has also had notably more residents who decided to settle in the province. In just the first 3 quarters of 2021, over 85,000 immigrants chose British Columbia to be their preferred destination for immigration.

The rate of investment in the province has also gone up remarkably with 114,000 private-sector jobs added to the labor market in 2021.

In British Columbia, the COVID-19 Closure Relief Grant was announced to help businesses keep themselves afloat and employees survive the tough time. The applications for the grant program will now be online. Eligible businesses can apply for the grant.

With an investment of over half a million dollars since early 2020, British Columbia’s government is doing its best to provide support to businesses and help their staff to get over the challenges of the pandemic.
